R-3725-12-19 RESOLUTION NO. 3725-12-19(R)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, BESTOWING THE NAME OF "STEPHEN G. TERRELL
COMMUNITY PARK AND RECREATION CENTER" UPON THE EXCHANGE
PARKWAY COMMUNITY PARK AND EXCHANGE PARKWAY RECREATION
CENTER; AND,PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Stephen Terrell has been a member of the Allen City Council since 1991 during which he served
in the capacity of Councilmember for six years until he was appointed Mayor in 1997; and,
WHEREAS, Stephen Terrell during his term on the Council has been involved in the acquisition and/or
development of virtually all existing City parks including the Exchange Parkway Community Park and
Exchange Parkway Recreation Center; and,
WHEREAS, Stephen Terrell is the epitome of the Allen community as exemplified in his beliefs,
commitments, and contributions too numerous to count; and,
WHEREAS,the Allen City Council adopted Resolution No. 874-9-88(R)establishing a policy and procedures
for the naming of municipal facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY,TEXAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. In recognition of Stephen Terrell's contributions to the City of Allen, the Allen City Council
hereby bestows the name of"Stephen G. Terrell Community Park and Recreation Center"upon the Exchange
Parkway Community Park and Exchange Parkway Recreation Center.
SECTION 2. The Allen City Council directs City staff to take the necessary action to ensure that this new
name is promulgated properly and any appropriate signage erected as soon as possible following the effective
date of this resolution.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
