R-3727-1-20 RESOLUTION NO.3727-1-20(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS, TO ACCEPT THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM (STEP) GRANT (GRANT # 2021-ALLENPD-S-1YG-00035);AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the residents of the City of Allen and neighbors to have safe streets within the incorporated limits of the City of Allen; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen's streets become unsafe and motor vehicle crashes occur when vehicles are operated in violation of established transportation and safety laws; and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Allen to take proactive measures to ensure that the citizens and visitors of the City Allen are safe when driving on city streets and highways. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY,TEXAS,THAT: SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Grant the funds will be returned to the State of Texas,Department of Transportation in part or in full. SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant, if awarded, from the State of Texas, Department of Transportation to assist the City of Allen and the Allen Police Department to fund a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for fiscal year 2021. SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
