AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING DURING CERTAIN
HOURS ON ALL PUBLIC STREETS IN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ALLEN; PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING
FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTION HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the public safety and welfare of the residents of
the City of Allen require that traffic in the City proceed in an
orderly and reasonable manner; and
WHEREAS, parking along certain streets in the City of Allen
often congests traffic and constitutes a hazard to both property
and life; and
WHEREAS, Article 27a(1) of the Revised Civil Statutes of
Texas authorizes a City to regulate the parking of motor vehicles
on streets within its corporate limits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That from and after the effective date of this
ordinance, a No Parking Zone for all motor vehicles is hereby
designated in that area within twelve (12) feet of a mailbox
on all public streets in the City of Allen from Monday through
Saturday of each week between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. to
1:00 o'clock P.M.
SECTION 2: That from and after the effective date of this
ordinance, any person who parks or permits to be parked their
motor vehicle in the zone herein described, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined any sum
not exceeding two hundred dol=lars ($200.00).
SECTION 3: That should any part or portion of this ordinance
be declared unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction,
it is expressly provided that the remaining portion of this
ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 4: That the caption of this ordinance shall be
published at least one (1) time in a newspaper having general
circulation in the City of Allen, and shall be effective
immediately upon its passage and publication.
