AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY,
TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF HAWTHORNE
DRIVE, PARTICULARLY THAT PORTION LOCATED IN THE COLLIN
SQUARE SUBDIVISION, A SUBDIVISION OF ALLEN, TEXAS, TO
HAWTHORNE CIRCLE SO AS TO AVOID CONFUSION WITH OTHER,
SIMILAR NAMED STREETS IN ALLEN, TEXAS, AND FOR THE SAFETY
AND GENERAL WELFARE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN'S INHABITANTS;
AMENDING ALL ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in February 3, 1983, a final plat was approved for the Collin Square
Subdivision development in the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, one of the streets
platted therein being designated a continuation of "Hawthorne Drive"; and,
WHEREAS, said street, being a continuation of an existing street named
"Hawthorne Drive", turns and runs eastward within the Collin Square Subdivision,
paralleling the existing Hawthorne Drive for a distance of one block; and,
WHEREAS, in providing for street numbers for that portion of Hawthorne Drive
constructed within the Collin Square Subdivision, it was found that the same 500 block
address numbers would have to be used to insure consistency of the City of Allen's
street numbering system; and,
WHEREAS, this condition would create two separate blocks within two separate
subdivisions having the same street name and block numbers, and it is the opinion of the
City Council that the safety and welfare of the inhabitants of both streets would best
be served by renaming that portion of Hawthorne Drive associated with the Collin
Square Subdivision; and,
WHEREAS, that portion of Hawthorne Drive within the Collin Square Subdivision
presently has no inhabitants and a change prior to any occupancy will simplify provision
of emergency services, utility and mail requirements and contribute to the convenience
of those first residents; and,

WHEREAS, changing of the name of "Hawthorne Drive" within the Collin Square
Subdivision can be accomplished simply through passage of this ordinance amending the
final plat of the Collin Square Subdivision;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALLEN, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the street designation, within the Collin Square
Subdivision development of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, "Hawthorne Drive"
be, and is by these presents hereby, officially changed to and redesignated as
"Hawthorne Circle".
SECTION 2. That, as a condition to the change and redesignation of the
street name in question, the builder/developer of said Collin Square Subdivision be, and
is hereby, required to file any and all legal instruments necessary to officially change
said name on the plat records of the City of Allen and is further hereby responsible for
notification of said change and redesignation to all public utilities and postal
authorities.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or portions of ordinances of the City of
Allen in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby amended to conform
to the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately from and after its adoption.
