O-622-7-85ORDINANCE NO. 622-7-85 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, AMENDING THE APPROVED FISCAL YEAR 1984-85 BUDGET BY INCLUDING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF WATER METERS, DECLARING A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, on September 20, 1984, the City Council did approve the annual operating budget for the City of Allen; and, WHEREAS, since that date a significant number of new homes have been constructed, requiring that the City place a water meter at each single family unit; and, WHEREAS, it has now become apparent and clear that the number of water meters approved for purchase in the fiscal year 1984-85 budget will not be sufficient to adequately service those new homes; and, WHEREAS, a growing public necessity and it is an emergency expenditure to meet unusual and unforseen conditions which could not by reasonable diligent thought and attention been included in the original budget; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: SECTION 1. AMENDMENT TO THE BUDGET. The Water Department budget of the Water and Sewer Fund is hereby amended to include an additional $12,450.00 to purchase water meters as needed. SECTION 2. PUBLIC NECESSITY. The Council hereby finds that it is a public necessity to amend the approval fiscal year 1984-85 budget in this matter. SECTION 3. DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The nature of these expenditures and the need for the additional water meters is such that the Council does declare an emergency, and this Ordinance will take effect immediately upon its passage.
