AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ABOLISHING THE ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT AND TRANSFERRING THOSE FUNCTIONS TO THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, from time to time for the efficient and effective operation
of the city organization, it becomes necessary to create or abolish depart-
ments of the city; and,
WHEREAS, this fact is recognized in Section 2.12 of the Allen City
Charter stating that the council may create, change and abolish offices,
departments, commissions or agencies; and,
WHEREAS, the City Manager has considered and recommends the
abolishment of the Engineering Department and transferring of those duties to
the Department of Public Works;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TERAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. In accordance with Section 2.12 of the Allen City Charter,
the City Council hereby abolishes the Department of Engineering.
SECTION 2. Those functions now performed by the Engineering
Department shall be transferred to the Public Works Department including the
engineering and street maintenance functions. All other matters pertaining to
the organization and leadership of the department shall be consistent with
Section 3.05 (E) of the Allen City Charter.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon publication.
