Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2022 - 03/16 - Regular ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING MARCH 16,2022 Present: Absent: Pamela Ackerman, Chair Alan Coffman,DVM Jessica Lockhart, Co-Chair Deborah Michnick, Secretary Raymon Yarbrough Deputy Chief Kyle Taliaferro ACO Tammy Chow-Hayes , Call to Order With a quorum of the Board members present,the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was called to order by Chair Ackerman at 7:06 p.m. on Wednesday,March 16,2022. 1. Approve minutes of the November 17,2021,meeting. The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board. 2. Received an update on current openings for Animal Control Officers. Currently have two open positions with interviews being conducted on March 16th. 3. Received an update on current Eagle Scout projects. Eagle Scouts completed a new chicken coop and modifications to the flower bed French-drain. 4. Received an update on the Veterinary Technology Program. • Collin College Vet Tech Program is going well. Plano Animal Services has also entered into an agreement to assist with the program. 5. Received an update on the addition of VIP/COP Administrative Volunteers. Volunteers in Policing and Citizens on Patrol volunteers have been assisting with administrative duties at the shelter front desk. 6. Received an update on the Online Donation Software Project and Strategic 10-year Plan for a new shelter. The Betty White Challenge showed a need for an online option for donations. Focus group comprised of Support Services,I.T. and Finance was developed for research and recommendations. 7. Received an update on the 2021 Yearly Statistics for Animal Services. 111 Discussed the 2021 numbers for Animal Services. Co-Chair Lockhart recommended discussing the addition of average stay in shelter or foster and daily enrichment for shelter animals. ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING • MARCH 16,2022 PAGE 2 8. Received an update on Recent and Upcoming Events. Shelter tours are returning, even with appointments. Upcoming events are Pirouettes for Pets,the National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, and the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee report for Allen City Council. 9. Discuss and Make a Recommendation to the City Council regarding Proposed Revisions to Chapter 3,Animals and Fowl,of the Code of Ordinances and/or Standard Operating Procedures. Animal Services is in the process of looking over the current Standard Operating Procedures and Ordinances for modifications and additions. 10. Adjournment MOTION: Upon a motion made by Jessica Lockhart and a second by Deborah Michnick,the Board voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee at 7:48 p.m. on Wednesday,March 16, 2022.
