AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUN'T'Y, TEXAS,
AMENDING SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE NO. 1216-1-94 AND ALLEN CODE OF
ORDINANCES CHAPTER 6, MEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT',' ARTICLE III,
'SOLID WASTE," SECTIONS 6-60.1 AND 6-603 TO DISCONTINUE THE
OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE FOR THE COLLECTION OF GRASS
CLIPPINGS AND LEAVES AND THE RATES AND CHARGES FOR GRASS AND
LEAVES ONLY, THUS NOT EFFECTING SPECIAL COLLECTION RATES; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Browning Ferris Industries has concluded that it is no longer cost effective for their
operation to provide subscription service to the City for collection of grass clippings and leaves; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen has reviewed Browning Ferris Industries request for
discontinuing this service and has determined the need to amend Ordinance No. 1216-1-94, Section 9,
contained in Sections 6-60.1 and 6-60.3 of City of Allen Code of Ordinances; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen has determined that there is a need to amend
Ordinance No. 1216-1-94 and Chapter 6, Article III, Sections 6-60.1 and 6-60.3 of the Allen Code of
Ordinances to discontinue the optional subscription service for the collection of grass clippings and
leaves provided by Browning Ferris Industries.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: Effective November 1, 1996, City of Allen Ordinance No. 1216-1-94, as previously
amended, and Chapter 6, Article III, Sections 6-60.1 and 6-60.3 of the Allen Code of Ordinances be,
and the same are hereby, amended to discontinue subscription service for the collection of grass
clippings and leaves from residential premises.
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and publication
in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so ordained.
