R-451-8-83RESOLUTION NO. 451-8-83 (R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY TEXAS, AFFIRMING THE INTENT OF THE CITY TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT, THROUGH THE CITY'S PLATTING PROCESS, THE NECESSARY RIGHT OF WAY TO ALLOW FOR A FREEWAY ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 121 AND AGREEING THAT COLLIN COUNTY COORDINATE THE ALIGNMENT FOR THE FREEWAY CORRIDOR. WHEREAS, the growth projections for the area along State Highway 121 between McKinney and the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Airport indicate that ultimately a freeway will be needed to serve the traffic in this corridor, and, WHEREAS, the interconnection of the City of Allen through a direct freeway route to the airport and with further connections west of the airport will be needed as growth and development of the Allen area continues, and, WHEREAS, a minimum of 400 feet of right of way is required for a freeway based upon standards established by the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation, and, WHEREAS, the appropriate time to acquire the right of way is during the subdivision platting process prior to development of the property, and, WHEREAS, a number of cities within Collin County are affected by the designation of S.H. 121 as a freeway and each has agreed in principle to support that designation, and, WHEREAS, the Collin County Commissioner's Court is in a position to assist in the coordination of this multi -jurisdictional effort, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Allen, Texas agrees to cooperate with other governmental agencies to develop and preserve a minimum of 400 foot wide corridor for a freeway along S.H. 121 between U.S. 75 and the Dallas/Ft. Worth Regional Airport. Resolution No. 451-8-83 (R) Page 2 SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Allen, Texas agrees to work with Collin County as the coordinating jurisdiction to assist in the effort of establishing the alignment for this corridor. SECTION 3.
