R-568-11-84RESOLUTION NO. 568-11-84(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, APPOINTING A COMMITTEE TO PLAN AND ORGANIZE THE 1986 TEXAS SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION FOR THE CITY OF ALLEN. WHEREAS, the State of Texas shall celebrate its 150th birthday during 1986; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen in keeping with state patriotism desires to be involved with the Sesquicentennial Celebration; and, WHEREAS, the organization and planning of the celebrations for the 1986 Sesquicentennial will require the efforts of many Allenites; and, WHEREAS, in order to effectively organize and plan for such celebrations a commitee shall be appointed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Committee Creation. There is hereby created a committee to be known as the City of Allen "Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee" who shall advise the City Council on all matters related to the Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration. SECTION 2. Membership. The following individuals are hereby appointed to the City of Allen Texas Sesquicentennial Committee: 1. Gene Reed 11. Terry Shelton 2. Mike Williams 12. Mary McDermott 3. Irving Hill 13. Sandy Honea 4. Mickey Christakos 14. Charles Barnard 5. Kyle Hollister 15. Jesse Sabala 6. Helen Johnson 16. Florence Nelson 7. Eileen Tollett 17. Ruth Story 8. Betty Matthews 18. Pete Ford 9. Ruth Gilliland 19. Patrick Morris 10. Jim Sorrels 20. Sandy Merica Replacements for those listed above who are for whatever reason unable to complete service on the committee shall be made by the Mayor of Allen. RESOLUTION NO. 568-11-84(R) Page 2 SECTION 3. Duties. The committee shall prepare a master plan of the activities for 1986 to be formally approved by the Allen City Council. The committee shall also meet as required to plan and organize these activities and projects that are to take place during the 1986 Sesquicentennial year.
