R-645-10-85RESOLUTION NO. 645-10-85(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, REGARDING THE DOCKETING OF A REQUEST FOR EXTENDED AREA SERVICE BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF TEXAS. WHEREAS, on May 7, 1985, the Public Utilities Commission of Texas did adopt on an emergency basis, substantive rules regarding Telephone Extended Area Service; and, WHEREAS, the rules adopted by the Public Utilities Commission contain provisions for an analysis of the dis- tribution of calling useage among the requesting and receiving dialing areas to establish a community of interest; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen was notified that the Allen dialing area did meet the requirements of the Public Utilities Commission regulations concerning the community of interest but that the Dallas dialing area calling back into Allen did not meet those same requirements; and, WHEREAS, the next step specified in the regulations requires the City of Allen to express in writing to the Commission its readiness to bear the cost of providing the requested Extended Area Service; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen is desirous of pursuing Extended Area Service for its residents in the Allen dialing area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. After careful review and consideration and with the understanding that prior to a formal decision being made on a changeover to Extended Area Service, several steps and decisions are required by the City. In accordance with Rule 23.49(c)(3)(B) of the Public Utilities Commission of Texas, the City of Allen hereby, on behalf of the telephone users within the City of Allen expresses its readiness to bear the entire cost of providing the requested Extended Area Service.
