R-660-11-85RESOLUTION NO. 660-11-85(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, DETERMINING THAT THE PROPOSED TELEPHONE EXTENDED AREA SERVICE TO ALLEN, TEXAS, SHOULD BE ON A NON -OPTIONAL BASIS. WHEREAS, on May 7, 1985, the Public Utilities Commission of Texas adopted substantive rules regarding telephone Extended Area Service; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen in conformance with Rule 23.49(c)(3)(B) did, on October 3, 1985, adopt Resolution 645-10-85(R) in behalf of the telephone users of Allen, expressing readiness to bear the entire cost of Extended Area Service; and, WHEREAS, on October 28, 1985, the City of Allen's application for Extended Area Service to the Dallas metro calling area was docketed in Docket #6568; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen has consulted with representa- tives of the Public Utilities Commission staff and representatives of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and General Telephone of the Southwest and have been advised that in order to expedite the data gathering and hearings process on the question of Extended Area Service, the City of Allen must decide between "optional" and "non -optional" service; and, WHEREAS, after careful study and consideration the City Council is of the opinion that Extended Area Service within Allen should be provided on a non -optional basis. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, THAT: Section I. The City Council has reviewed the rules and regulations of the Commission concerning telephone Extended Area Service and find that this service should be provided to the residents of the City of Allen on a non - optional basis. Resolution No. 660-11-85(_R) Page 2 Section II. A copy of this resolution is to be forwarded to the Public Utilities Commission, the affected telephone companies, and other interested parties.
