A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALLEN, TEXAS, DESIGNATING JON MC CARTY, CITY
MANAGER TO ACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
ALLEN IN APPLYING TO THE TEXAS STATE LIBRARY FOR
FUNDING THROUGH THE LSCA TITLE II GRANT PROGRAM,
AND CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF ALLEN WILL COMPLY
WITH THE REGULATIONS, POLICIES, GUIDELINES AND
REQUIREMENTS OF SAID PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has appropriated
$1,149,100.00 in Library Services and Construction Act Title
II funding for Fiscal Year 1986 to provide financial assist-
ance to Texas communities to build new libraries; and,
WHEREAS, the Texas State Library is the state agency
which awards and administers the Library Services and Con-
struction Act grants program; and,
WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Allen endorsed a
project to build a new library when they approved a $2.525
million bond proposition; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen desires
to authorize its administrative staff to represent and act
for the City in dealing with the Texas State Library con-
cerning this program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, THAT:
Section I. The City Council of the City of Allen hereby
certifies that the City of Allen is eligible to receive as-
sistance under the Library Services and Construction Act
Title II Program.
Section II. The City Council hereby authorizes and directs
the City Manager to represent and act for the City of Allen in
dealing with the Texas State Library for the purposes of this
program. The City Manager is hereby officially designated
as the City's representative in this regard.
Section III. The City Council hereby authorizes the City
official herein designated to make application to the Texas
State Library for an LSCA Title II Construction Grant.
Section IV. The City Council hereby certifies that the
City of Allen will comply with the regulations, policies,
guidelines and requirements of said program.
