A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTH TEXAS COMMIS-
SION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR A PERIOD
OF ONE YEAR FROM THE 15TH DAY OF MAY, 1988.
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan of the City of Allen calls for the
City to "Develop an economy that will generate jobs, provide shopping and
service opportunities and a strong financial base for Allen"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a commitment to the Allen
Economic Development Alliance to engage in economic development program-
ming that promotes business activity, diversifies and expands the tax base and
enhances the overall quality of life of the community; and
WHEREAS, the North Texas Commission is a regional, independent and
non-profit economic development consortium made up of municipalities,
chambers of commerce and corporations established for the purpose of
developing and administering economic development programs for the North
Texas Region; and
WHEREAS, the success of the North Texas Commission's programs will
directly or indirectly improve the economy and the quality of life in Allen;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT the City Council of the
City of Allen authorizes the Mayor to execute an agreement with the North
Texas Commission for economic development services for a period of one year
from the 15th day of May, 1988.
