A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY,
TEXAS, URGING THE STATE COMMISSION OF HIGHWAYS
AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO DESIGNATE THAT 16.1
MILE SECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 121 FROM U.S. 75 TO
NEAR F.M. 423 AS A FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transporta-
tion has concluded a feasibility study and engineering report to determine the
need for a controlled access freeway with six main lanes and six frontage road
lanes in the area between U.S. 75 and near F. M. 423 on S. H. 121; and,
WHEREAS, the conclusions in the Report support the need for such
a facility to meet traffic demands in the 2010 timeframe; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen is supportive of the development of a
freeway along S.H. 121 within its borders; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen pledges to use its best efforts to acquire
and preserve the right-of-way which the freeway will require;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ALLEN:
SECTION 1. That the City of Allen urges the Highway Commission
to designate that 16.1 mile section of S.H. 121 from U.S. 75 to near F.M. 423
as a freeway.
SECTION 2. That the City of Allen pledges to use its best efforts
to acquire and preserve the right-of-way which will be needed to construct
the freeway.
