A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF
THE SH 121 BYPASS FROM NEAR DENTON CREEK TO FM 423 AND
ENCOURAGING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO COMPLETE PREPARATION OF RIGHT-
OF-WAY REQUIREMENTS, ACQUIRE RIGHT-OF-WAY, AND
CONSTRUCT THE FACILITY.
WHEREAS, The Texas Highway Commission has previously designated SH
121 Freeway from Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport to US 75 in Allen
(including the bypass); and
WHEREAS, All cities and counties adjacent to the Bypass have approved the
schematic design for the bypass as prepared by the State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Construction of the Freeway is critical to the continued economic
growth and prosperity of the region; and
WHEREAS, Construction of the Bypass is critical to the completion of the
Freeway to adequately serve the residents of the region; and
WHEREAS, The State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
will conduct a Public Hearing on October 12, 1989, for the purpose of receiving
public testimony on the proposed Bypass and the City Council of Allen, Texas
desires to express support for construction of the bypass and the Freeway,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALLEN TEXAS, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council encourages the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation to proceed with the plans, specifications,
estimates and right-of-way acquisition to permit construction of the Bypass as
soon as practical.
SECTION 2. That the City Council promises its continuing cooperation and
assistance in the development of this much needed freeway.
