A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION - NORTH
CENTRAL TEXAS, PUBLISHED BY NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL
OF GOVERNMENTS AS THE PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CITY.
WHEREAS, after several thousand hours of volunteer and staff time the
North Central Texas Council of Governments has published Standard Specifications
for Public Works Construction - North Central Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption and use of these specifications will allow common
interpretation of provisions for all disciplines involved in public works construc-
tion; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption and use of these specifications will simplify the
bidding process for both the City and its contractors; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption and use of these specifications will provide a
continuing amendment process to meet the changing demands of new technology,
new materials and improved construction or design methods; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption of these specifications will reduce the City's
expenditures associated with staff time or professional consultant engineers' time
in development of specifications as well as training time for construction inspec-
tors; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption of these specifications will decrease construction
costs for public works projects; and,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the Standard Specification for Public Works Construction
-North Central Texas, second Edition 1987, with 1988 & 89 amendments, as
published by North Central Texas Council of Governments, and with City of Allen
amendments, is adopted as the specifications for public works projects of the City.
SECTION 2: That future amendments to the above specifications be
incorporated into the City's public works project specifications at the time they are
published by North Central Texas Council of Governments, its successors as
assigns.
