A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO
PURSUE A COOPERATIVE AUTOMATION PROJECT WITH THE CITY OF
PLANO, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen desires to provide the best possible level of library
services to its citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that no individual library can expect to maintain a
sufficiently comprehensive collection of materials to satisfy the information needs of
diverse users; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plano desires to participate in a cooperative public library
automation project with the City of Allen that will improve the capability of providing
information to a discriminating public;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALLEN, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager or designee, the Library Director and the library
automation consulting firm, RMG Inc. , are hereby authorized and directed to participate
in the development of a plan to facilitate linking the catalogs of the Allen Public Library
and the Plano Public Libraries via computerization and telecommunications.
SECTION 2. The City Manager or designee are directed to seek out supplemental
funding for a cooperative library automation project.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its
passage.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 7TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1991.
