A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION
FOR FUNDING OF IMPROVEMENTS AS DETAILED IN SECTIONS 18 AND 19 OF
THE CITY OF ALLEN LINEAR GREENBELT PARK STUDY TO THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR CONSIDERATION FOR
FUNDING UNDER THE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM; AND
ACKNOWLEDGING A TWENTY-NINE PERCENT LOCAL MATCH FOR OVERALL
PROJECT COST FOR ANY APPROVED FUNDED PROJECT;
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has established the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act
(ISTEA) of 1991 for the purpose of funding transportation projects in the United States; and
WHEREAS, ISTEA has provisions to provide funding for the enhancement of significant historic, cultural
and non-traditional transportation resources related to transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has established the statewide Transportation
Enhancement Program to administer these funds; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT has requested that projects be submitted for the purpose of consideration for these
funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has a project eligible for enhancement funds, which it desires to submit for
consideration;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City Council authorizes submission of a grant application to NCTOG for ISTEA
Enhancement funding for construction of improvements to Cottonwood Creek and authorizes the City
Manager to act in behalf of the City in matters related to securing said grant.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Allen acknowledges that upon approval of funding for the
projects, the City will provide the minimum twenty-nine percent (29%) local match for the overall project
cost approved by TxDOT.
