R-1314-1-95RESOLUTION NO. 13141-95 (R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF ALLEN HELD ON JANUARY 21, 1995. WHEREAS, it is imperative to consider the returns of an election held on the 21st day of January, 1995, for the purpose of voting for or against a proposition allowing for the adoption of an additional one-half cent sales and use tax within the City for the purposes herein set forth, and it appears from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said City election, 1579 valid and legal votes tallied as follows: THE ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY AT THE RATE OF ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT FOR LAND, BUILDINGS, EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENTS REQUIRED OR SUITABLE FOR USE FOR SPORTS, ATHLETIC, ENTERTAINMENT, TOURIST, CONVENTION, AND PUBLIC PARK PURPOSES AND EVENTS AND THE PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW OR EXPANDED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES, AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 4B OF ARTICLE 5190.6, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES, AS AMENDED. TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES CAST I0]�7 661 AGAINST 918 TOTAL VOTES BY WHICH PROPOSITION WAS DEFEATED 257 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1: Said election was duly called, that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that the proposition allowing for the adoption of an additional one-half cent sales and use tax within the City for the purposes herein set forth. SECTION 2: It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located in the City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice having been so posted and remaining posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of said meeting. SECTION 3: It is duly found that the proposition allowing for the adoption of an additional one- half cent sales and use tax within the City of Allen for the purposes previously set forth was defeated by the voters of Allen.
