A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, NAMING THE RECREATION CENTER
LOCATED AT 1201 E BETHANY DRIVE, THE "JOE FARMER
RECREATION CENTER"; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Joe Farmer has been a member of the Allen City Council since 1977 during which he served in
the capacity of Mayor Pro Tem for ten years and Mayor from 1988 -present; and
WHEREAS, Joe Farmer during his term on the Council has been involved in the acquisition and/or
development of virtually all existing City parks including Bethany Lakes Park and the Recreation Center
located therein; and
WHEREAS, Joe Farmer has contributed to our community not only through his involvement coaching youth
sports and serving as chairman of the Collin County United Way, but in his leadership and belief in the people
of Allen; and
WHEREAS, Joe Farmer is the epitome of the Allen community as exemplified in his beliefs, commitments,
and contributions too numerous to count; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 874-9-88(R) establishing Policy and Procedures for naming of City facilities
allows recognition of individuals who have provided the community outstanding personal service through the
naming of said facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board fully supports the naming of this Recreation Center the "Joe
Farmer Recreation Center" and recommends that the Council approve this recommendation; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1: Upon consideration of the Parks and Recreation Board recommendation and in recognition of
and appreciation for Joe Farmer's contributions to the City of Allen, the Recreation Center at 1201 East
Bethany Drive, shall hereinafter be known and recognized as the "Joe Farmer Recreation Center", and said
name shall appear by permanent marker at the main entrance of the facility.
SECTION 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage.

COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 7TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1995.
