R-1398-2-96RESOLUTION NO. 1398-2-96 (R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, TO JOIN TOGETHER WITH THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 73RD TEXAS LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT OUR SERVICEMEN AND SERVICEWOMEN AS THEY CARRY OUT THEIR PEACEKEEPING MISSION OVERSEAS; AND TO SUPPORT THE AMERICAN PEACEKEEPERS SUPPORT ORGANIZATION (APSO) WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, AID AND COMFORT TO FAMILY MEMBERS OF THOSE SERVING OUR GREAT COUNTRY. WHEREAS, the recent course of events in Bosnia-Herzegovina having deeply affected all Americans especially those servicemen and servicewomen in our nation's armed forces having been called to active service to secure the peace as part of the Dayton Accord: A Peace Agreement for the Balkans; and, WHEREAS, with many servicemen and servicewomen from Texas being deployed to the Balkans, it is important for all Texans to support the troops, to show appreciation for the difficult task assigned to them, and to pray for the success of their mission; and, WHEREAS, the families of the servicemen and servicewomen living in North Texas having formed the support group named, American Peacekeepers Support Organization (APSO), support their loved ones who are serving or have served in the Bosnian Theater and provide aid and comfort to family members; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT: The City of Allen hereby honors our troops in Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially those from Texas, for their steadfast courage and devotion to the cause of universal peace and join with the families of these servicemen and servicewomen in supporting their loved ones as they carry out their peacekeeping mission overseas.
