Min - City Council - 1974 - 01/03 - RegularREGULAR MEETING January 3, 1974 City Council, City of Allen S Present: Mayor : Frank Dugger Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnnie Blahkenship, Johnny Pannell and Bob Lowman. Motion Bob Lowman Second C.D. Whitaker that minutes of previous meeting be approved as read. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Public Hearing was set on annexation request of Donald J. Tobin on a tract of land owned by him located at the intersection of F.M. Highway 2478 and State High- way 121. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Johnny Pannell that hearing date be set for January 17th at 7:30 P.M.. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Bids were opened on furniture and the remodeling of the Shelton property for use by the Library. Stratton Brothers submitted a bid on the remodeling of $13,329.84 or an alternate bid of $15,089.84 if the front porch was enclosed. Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that bid of $2,560.95 from Drake Co. be accepted on furniture for Library. Sperry -Rand bid $2,756.00. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Council agreed to ask for seperate bids on installation�bf�air conditioning and Central Heat on Library Building. Bids to be opened on January 17th. Letter was read from Representative Richard F. Reynolds asking that City pass a Resoluation favoring an Open -Shop in the Right to Work Law that is being considered in the rewriting of the Texas Constituation. Council agreed to support this Resoluation. Motion C.D. Whitaker Second Clifford Hart that bids be taken on the writing of insurance on buildings and property owned by the City. Bids to be made on present coverage plus any other coverage proposed by bidder. Bids to be considered at January 17th meeting. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Motion Bob Lowman Second Clifford Hart that bills presented be approved. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnnie Blankenship that City employees observe 6 holidays for the year 1974. These days to be New Years, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Police Department to have choice of taking paid holidays or as extra vacation time. Motion Carried 5 For 9 Against. Motion Johnny Pannell Second C.D. Whitaker that the following City Employees be granted a 5% cost of living pay raise rounded off to the nearest dollar, effective January 1st. Jerry Burton - $915.00, Hubert Bardwell $655.00, Anthony Hancock $655.00 Royce Abbott $655.00, Bob Montgomery $551.00, Walter Curtis $389.00, Jimmy Eaton $551.00, Frank Smith $463.00, P. Richa^dson - Same, Lynn Jeffcoat - Same, Mary Tod - Same, Ronnie Gentry - $ 2.35 per hour, Jesse Lewis - $ 2.35 per hour, all part time employees to remain the same. Motion Carried 5 For 0 Against. Council agreed to have City Attorney draw Ordinance prohibiting the placing of fences across easements in the rear of lots in Windridge Addition N1.
