Min - City Council - 1974 - 09/05 - RegularREGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 5, 1974 City Council, City of Allen Present: Mayor: Frank Dugger Councilmen: C.D. Whitaker, Clifford Hart, Johnny Pannell, Johnnie Li Blankenship and Bob Lowman Motion Bob Lowman Second Johnny Pannell that minutes of previous meeting be approved as read. Motion carried 5 for 0 against. Postmaster Bill Enloe appeared before Council to present plans for new mail delivery service that is to become effective in the near future. Mr. Enloe asked Council cooperation in trying to arrange for patrons on Meadow Mead, Roaming Road and Wandering Way, to place their mail boxes on their side pro- perty lines instead of in front of their dwellings, so that they will co- incide with the placement of boxes in the rest of the City. Motion Bob Lowman Second C.D. Whitaker that a letter be written by the City and addressed to all occupants of residences in the City advising them of the specifications and other information relative to Mail Delivery Service. Also, the residents in Hillside Village that now have delivery service , be request- ed to move their mail boxes to their side property lines instead of in front of their residences. Motion Carried 5 for 0 against. Amendment to Telephone Ordinance was presented to Council from Southwestern Bell Telephone , advising of a rate increase, which is to become effective September 25, 1974. Bid was received from Wayne Bitterton on sealing of parking lot at Municipal Building and paving of drive way at Library and Fire Station. Council felt this bid to be too high and asked Fir Chief Ronnie Gentry to secure more bids on this project. Council agreed to hire Larry Moore as City Secretary and Juanelle Cooksey as Clerk for City. These employees will be hired on a six months probationary period. Mr. Moore to receive a salary of $160.00 per week and Mrs. Cooksey $125.00 per week. Jerry Burton appeared before Council in regards to a hand Radar Gun now leased by the City. Chief Burton asked Council approval on the purchase of a new gun of this type, since the Police Department bad been having a considerable amount of difficulty in keeping the old gun in operation, due to malfunctions of the gun. Council asked Chief Burton to invite a repre- sentative from the company that sells this equipment to appear before Council at its meeting on September 19th. L' 6i Resolution No. 169 was unanimously approved by Council to oermit Texas Power and Light to use PJC pipe for service conduit instead of galvanized pipe, only in the event they are unable to secure galvanized pipe.6 For 0 against.
