Committee Members: Present: Ann Carroll, Chair Susan Barry Jane Bennett (late) Steve Benson Denise Gilbert Tod Raines Sandy Wntsche City Staff: Tim Derider, Director, Parks and Recreation Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, Parks and Recreation Jennifer Robinson, Support Specialist, Parks and Recreation Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public An Committee was called to order by Chair Carroll at 6:02 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the Council Conference Room of Allen City Hall at 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas. Action Items 1. Approve minutes from the December 1, 2015 Called Meeting MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Gilbert and seconded by committee member Barry, the committee voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to accept minutes from the December I, 2015 called meeting as presented. 2. Approve minutes from the December 15, 2015 Called Meeting MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Gilbert and seconded by committee member Barry, the committee voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to accept minutes from the December 15, 2015 called meeting as presented. 3. Consider Amending Budget for the Ford Pool Mosaic Art Project The committee reviewed further information submitted by artist Joshua Winer, regarding the design concepts for the two interior columns. Within the original mosaic project budget, the columns would include a band of swimmers similar to those on the front four columns. The artist also proposed to do full mosaic on the remainder of the two interior columns for an additional $10,000. After reviewing the information the Committee connected with the artist via Skype to address any follow-up questions. PUBLIC ART COMMITTE REGULAR MEETING January 19,2016 Director, Tim Derider also shared with the Committee the possible future need for additional funding to maintain the front columns in the renovation project as the project budget is extremely lean and the purpose of the front columns are primarily aesthetic and not structural. After further discussion the following motions were brought forward. MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee member Gilbert, the committee voted six (6) for and one (1) opposed to commit up to $30,000 towards the column construction to support the mosaic art. MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Raines and seconded by committee member Gilbert, the committee voted six (6) for and one (1) opposed to increase the artist budget by $10,000 to allow for the complete mosaic of the two interior columns. 4. Consider Making a Recommendation to the City Council for the Ford Pool Mosaic Art Concept MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Gilbert and seconded by committee member Wittsche, the committee voted seven (6) for and one (1) abstained to recommend to City Council the concept presented by artist, Joshua Winer for the Ford Pool Mosaic Art Project. Discussion Items 5. Discuss "Current Drift' Dedication Details The dedication will be held in conjunction with the Cottonwood Creek Trail and Bridge Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place onsite at the bridge with a reception to follow at Rudy's BBQ The Committee will be asked to say a few words about the "Current Drift" project during the ceremony 6. Update on Current Projects Watters Branch Park artists, May and Watkins have continued to correspond with Dunaway Associates, the design consultants for the project, and plan to have revised sketches to present at the February Committee meeting. 7.
