New terms for that committee re set on a 1 and 2 year basis, those having served more than 2 years have 1 year, and the new ones with 2 year terms, as follows: Joe Moseley, Jennie Falr,e, and Roger - 2 years. Those with one year to serve ere: Jeanne Nance, Joe Perks, Richard Chumbley, ani Bill Kolander. Two work sessions a month were set, with Roger serving as Chairman, Joe Vice, and Jeanne Nance, Secretary, serving 1 year intervals. Motion Pierson Second Farmer to set September 1 as date for Public Bearing on 2 pieces of property. (1) Zoning change request on 4.968 acres in Peter Fisher Survey, Abst. #326, from PD to GB & GI. (2) Special exception request to allow a Drive In Restaurant in GB zoning on 1.00 acres of land in Peter Weisel Survey, Abst. $990. Motion carried 4 For 0 Against. Bids were opened on the Sewer Machine with bids being received from Environmental Sales & Service for $10,489.00, Rockwell International $9627.00 and Naylor with $8}015.87• Motion Pierson second Chandler to award bid to Naylor Supply. Payments td,�/3 on delivery, 1/3 in 30 days, final 1/3 in 60. Motion carried 4 For 0 Against. A letter from Dale Williams of the ASA was read, regarding his resignation and a request for additional funds for work on the ball fields. Motion Pierson Second Brooks that work be completed with amount of money left in budget. Motion carried 3 voting For and i abstaining. Walter Curtis, Tax Assessor, presented the Tax Roll for approval. Total assessed values were $20,596,190.00. Motion Brooks Second Farmer to approve. Motion carried 4 For 0 Against. Motion Pierson Second Farmer to get total budget together and set a workshop for August 29. Second Brooks Motion carried 4 For 0 Against. Roger reported some information that he had obtained for the Council. The first item was in regard to the ordinance that kills a platt if work is not started within 1 year from date of council approval; Travis County Tax Assessor said that the instant the ordinance annuls the platt, it becomes raw land and taxed accordingly. The second item was whether the city has to pay the 5% tax per gallon on fuel; he reported that we do if on road use. Third was on regulation of contractors and sub- contractors; Plano requires that Sub Contractors be licensed by State and registered in Plano; however, General Contractors do not have to be licensed. Frank advised Police Chief Hancock to make an appointment with John Keller- of the State Highway Department, concerning the traffice light problem on Highway 5. Pierson and Farmer reported on their visit to the school board meeting. The school board agreed to help us with the Jupiter Road improvements by giving $5000. and the board agreed that they should invite Sam Wyse to meet with them in regard to future school sites. Cil Allen City Council Regular Session August 18, 1977 Motion Pierson second Brooks to allow Jimmy to order valves for pumps. Motion carried 4 For 0 Against. After much discussion as to whether heads of departments can hire or fire, it was decided that Roger would draw up the city policies. It was agreed that the selection of a new employee for the front office be done by the City Secretary, even though funds would come from the Revenue Fiend; however, in this case, Manpower. Motion Brooks, Second Farmer to approve bills if the one from Nortex is for repair on the Fire Marshall's radio in his car.
