' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER, OR TERMINATE A
GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF
COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES PROVIDING GRANT FUNDING
FOR FIVE SWORN POLICE OFFICERS UNDER THE COPS HIRING PROGRAM, IF
AWARDED.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its police department, wishes to provide the highest level of police services to
all residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department has recognized the need to add five additional officers to assist
with public safety and crime prevention issues in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services is providing additional funding to local
communities; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the COPS Hiring Program funds
will be returned to the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services in
full.
' SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate this grant
from the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services to assist the City of
Allen and the Allen Police Department to fund five additional police officer positions.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
