JOINT MEETING
Allen SSD Trustees and. Allen City Council
December 6, 1978
Present: School Superintendent Dr. John Horn; Board members: 'lard Paxton, Jerry Carson,
Howard Snider, Jim Kerr, Fat Dillard and E.T. Boon and secreta;; Inkman
Mayor Mickey Pierson, Council members, Joe Farmer, Charles Chandler, Glenn
Andrew, and H.R. Daugherty and secretary Juanelle Cooksey
The purpose of this meeting was to lay the ground work for cooperative programs in
all areas of common interest and concern, which would result in considerable savings
in the taxes necessary to support the high quality of education and services expected
by our citizenry.
Major topics of discussion were concerning the location of the main thoroughfare east
and west through town and the selection of three sites for purchase as school and park
facilities.
The School Board basically wanted a feeling in concept and principal from the council
in participating jointly in these school/ park sites. A motion was made by E.T. Boon
to adopt a resolution that the City Council and School Board work on all future
development sites jointly. Second by Andrew, with a unanimous vote from the City Council
and School Board.
Ward Paxton and Mickey Pierson are to be the representatives for both elected bodies
to negotiate with the City of McKinney and the McKinney School Board on the proposed
land swap.
