' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE
OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR
A CRIME VICTIM ADVOCATE, IF AWARDED; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, and its Police Department, respond to reports of crime which involve residents,
businesses and visitors who are victims; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department has recognized the needs of these victims by providing advocate
services to assist them through these often -time traumatic events, through the criminal court process, and by
obtaining counseling services and financial aid, if needed; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department believes that the continuation of the Crime Victim Advocate
program will assist the Police Department in better serving its residents and visitors who are victims ofcrime; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has agreed to provide matching funds, cash or in-kind, for a Crime Victim
Advocate, as it appears in the grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
Funds for a Crime Victim Advocate Grant (application # 1886702), funds will be returned to the State of Texas,
Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
SECTION 2. The City of Allen is committed to funding all required and applicable matching funds through cash
and/or in-kind.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant from
the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department to fund a Crime Victim Advocate (application # 1886702).
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
