AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FROM THE LIBRARY COLLECTIONS
ACQUISITION FUND FOR A LIBRARY SYSTEM, THE PURCHASE OF BOOKS
AND A LIBRARY ENDOWMENT FUND; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 20, 1986, the City Council created the Library Collections Acquisition Fund; and,
WHEREAS, the Library Board bas recommended that certain expenditures be made from the Library
Collections Acquisition Fund; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such expenditures from the Library Collections Acquisition Fund
will be in the best interests of the citizens of Allen.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. An expenditure of $71,685 shall be made from the Library Collections Acquisition Fund to the
City of Plano to pay for the Allen Library's share of the Polaris Library System purchase. A transfer of
$25,000 shall be made from the Library Collections Ac.,luisition Fund to the Library's Fiscal Year 2007-2008
budget line item for the purchase of books. The remaining funds of $171,542 in the Library Collections
Acquisition Fund shall be designated for an endowment fund established by the Friends of the Allen Public
Library.
SECTION 2. If the Friends of the Library Endowment Board dissolves, all funds shall be returned to the
City of Allen.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
