A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO
THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAFE ROUTES TO
SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR A PROJECT NOMINATION PROVIDED BY THE
SAFE, ACCOUNTABLE, FLEXIBLE, EFFICIENT TRANSPORTATION EQUITY
ACT: A LEGACY FOR USERS (SAFETEA—LU); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE
APPLICATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen, Texas desires to submit an application for off-street bicycle/pedestrian
facilities design and construction in the water transmission line condor (Celebration Pass) in northeast Allen;
and,
WHEREAS, off-street bicycle/pedestrian facilities design and construction will enhance the City of Allen's
alternate transportation system, establish public access to multiple schools, neighborhoods, employment
centers, and recreational facilities, and ultimately alleviate traffic congestion and air quality issues; and,
WHEREAS, the City desires to establish its commitment to fund costs exceeding the amount awarded for the
Celebration Pass Trail Corridor project in accordance with the TxDOT Safe Routes To School Program
guidelines; and,
' WHEREAS, the City commits to the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance and
financing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The submission of the Celebration Pass Trail Corridor project to the Texas Department of
Transportation Safe Routes To School Program is approved, and the City Manager is authorized to execute all
documents necessary for the submission.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective from and after its passage.
