AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES BY AMENDING CHAPTER 2 BY AMENDING SECTION 2-230(f)
CLARIFYING THE TIME WHEN PERSONS SUBJECT TO THE CODE OF
CONDUCT MUST ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT;
PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE
NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500); AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Allen, Texas, be amended by amending
Section 2-230(1), in part to read as follows:
"Sec. 2-230. Appointment, removal; applications.
(a) ...
(f) Every person appointed to a City board, commission or corporation including the
board of directors of the Allen Economic Development Corporation and the Allen
Community Development Corporation shall be provided by the City Secretary with a
copy of the bylaws for such board, commission or corporation and of this Article; and
shall prior to taking the oath of office, acknowledge in writing the receipt and
understanding thereof."
SECTION 2. All ordinances of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance be, and the same are hereby, repealed; provided, however, that all other provisions of said
ordinances not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION3. Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or section of this
ordinance, or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be adjudged or held to be void or
unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of said ordinance or the Code
of Ordinances, as amended hereby, which shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and publication hereof.
