Min - City Council - 1980 - 02/07 - RegularREGULAR SESSION Allen City Council February 7, 1980 Present: Charles Chandler, Rex Womack, Glenn Andrew and Richard Chumbley Absent: Mayor M.B. Pierson, H.R. Daugherty and Joe Farmer As the mayor was not present, a motion was made by Womack Second by Chumbley to elect Charles Chandler as the presiding officer for this meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Motion Andrew Second Womack to approve the minutes of the January 17th meeting. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Dale Burton, of Allen Rental and Sales, was present to request a Special Exception for Outdoor Commercial Use in a Local Retail Zoning, at 203 E. Main. Motion Chumbley Second Andrew to set February 21 as the date for a Public Hearing. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Motion was made by Womack Second Chumbley to accept the resig- nation of Bill Roberts as Corporation Court Judge, with thanks from the city for serving during the month of December. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Motion Andrew Second Chumbley to appoint Howard Shapiro of Plano as the Municipal Court Judge at the agreed salary. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. The resurfacing of Allen Heights Dr. and Jupiter Road was discussed. Jimmy Eaton related to the council that the county had made a proposal that the county and city combine their efforts and re- surface both roads, with the county furnishing the manpower and machinery and city the materials. Motion Chumbley Second Womack to accept the proposal of Jimmy Eaton to resurface Jupiter Rd from 2170 to Bethany Rd and to resurface Allen Heights Dr. from 2170 to Mustang Branch for an approximate cost of $27123 to the city for material. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. $2000 is to be furnished from the Public Works budget. Bill Petty, Building Official, presented new building permit fee schedules for the council's consideration, along with some other recommendations for that department. No action was taken and the council will consider the alternate proposal at the next meeting. Motion Andrew Second Womack to authorize Jimmy Eaton to advertise for bids, based on the specs presented, for a air compressor. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Motion Chumbley Second Womack to authorize Jon Oland of the Parks and Recreation Dept. to seek bids, based on the specs presented, for a Pick Up. Motion carried 3 for 1 against. (Andrew) Motion Andrew Second Chumbley to adopt Resolution #289, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ALLEN TO ASSESS AND TAX AUTOMOBILES FOR THE TAX YEAR 1980. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. Motion Womack Second Andrew to pay Wisenbaker, Fix's Engineering bill in the amount of $24,240.60 for the east side interceptor line out of Revenue Bond funds. Motion carried 4 for 0 against. The monthly tax report was given by Walter Curtis and Jon McCarty gave a progress report of the architects. Motion Andrew Second Womack to adjourn. Motion carried 4 for 0 against.
