ORDINANCE NO. 12SL AN ORDINANCE SETTING A 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON GREETING GATE LANE, MEADOW MEAD LANE, WONDERING WAY, GRASSY GLEN, LEADING LANE, ROAMING ROAD DRIVE IN THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR A FINE FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR A PUBLICATION OF CAPTION. WHEREAS, the public safety of the City of Allen requires that traffic in the City proceed in an orderly and reasonable manner; and, WHEREAS, the streets hereinafter mentioned are located in residential areas where a large number of children reside; and, WHEREAS, all action required of the City prior to setting a maximum speed limit within its corporate limits pursuant to Article 6701D, Section 169B of the revised Civil Statutes of Texas, has been taken by the City; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of Allen, Texas, deems it in the public interest to alter the standard speed limit within the City of Allen on certain streets hereinafter named; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That the maximum prima facie speed limit upon the following streets: Greeting Gate Lane, Meadow Mead Lane, Wondering Way, Grassy Glen, Leading Lane, and Roaming Road Drive is hereby set at 20 Miles Per Hour. SECTION 2: That after the effective date of this Ordinance described below, any person violating this Ordinance shall be fined not more than $200.00 for each offense. SECTION 3: The caption of this Ordinance shall be published one time in a weekly newspaper having general circulation in the City of Allen, Texas, and will be effective immediately after its adoption and such publication and it is so ordered.
