' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO ALLOW THE CITY MANAGER (OR DESIGNEE) TO
APPLY FOR THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND
SECURITY'S SAFER (STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY
RESPONSE) GRANT PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security's Office for Domestic Preparedness has
announced the SAFER grant program to provide direct grunts to communities to hire additional
firefighters; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen operates a fire department with cancer firefighters; and,
WHEREAS, continued growth in Allen will lead to an increase in fire, medical, and other emergency
incidents which will need to be mitigated by firefighters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager (or designee) is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate a SAFER grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with
' the provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
