' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO ACCEPT A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT
FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR A DIGITAL VOICE RECORDING SYSTEM,
IF AWARDED; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen and its Police Department's Communications Unit receives emergency calls for the
police and fire department; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department's Communication Unit also monitors the radio transmissions of
its police officers and firefighters; and,
WHEREAS, these emergency calls and radio transmissions must be recorded in a clear and concise manner so that
evidence can be preserved, recordings stored for future needs or situational reenactments can be accomplished.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
Funds for a Digital Voice Recording System, the Grant will be returned to the State of Texas, Office of the
Governor, Criminal Justice Division in full.
' SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Allen, Texas, authorizes the submission of the Digital Voice
Recording System Grant to the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant from
the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department in funding a Digital Voice Recording System.
SECTION 4. The City of Allen is committed to provide for all applicable matching funds.
SECTIONS. All provisions of any resolution of the City of Allen,Texas, in conflict with the provisions of this
resolution be, and the same is hereby, repealed, and all other provisions not in conflict with the provisions of this
resolution shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 6. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen, and it is accordingly so resolved.
