R-2342-10-04RESOLUTION NO. 2342-10-04(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, SUPPORTING A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR STATE HIGHWAY 121 MAIN LANES FUNDING OPTIONS IN COLLIN COUNTY. WHEREAS, the North Texas region continues to experience dramatic growth as the area's population now exceeds 5.7 million people; and WHEREAS, this dramatic growth is expected to continue with an expected population for the region of 9.0 million people by 2030; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen and Collin County have both doubled in population during the last decade with an expected population of 97,000 and 1.5 million people respectively by 2030; and, WHEREAS, the region continues to lead Texas in economic measures including the creation of new jobs, retail sales, and regional gross product; and, WHEREAS, motorist delay and congestion on our regional/Iml thoroughfare networks are expected to double in the next 25 years; and, WHEREAS, SH 121 is a critical highway artery in Collin County NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, ' TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Allen supports a feasibility study for State Highway 121 main lanes funding options in Collin County. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately firm and after its passage and it is accordingly so resolved.
