October 20, 1980
Present: Superintendent, Dr. John Horn
Mayor M. B. Pierson and City Manager, Jon McCarty
AISD Board Members: E. T. Boon, Jerry Carson, Jim Kerr,
Pat Dillard, Ward Paxton, Don Brazeal and Charles Akin
Councilmen: H. R. Daugherty, Glenn Andrew, Joe Farmer,
Richard Chumbley, Rex Woamck and Jim McClure
This joint meeting was called to order by Mayor M.B. Pierson. Jon
McCarty presented the site plan of the property purchased by the
City, alon^ with sketches showing the different possibilities for
sharing the site for warehouse facilities. Motion Boon Second
Chumbley to approve the concept as presented in sketch F, and the
staff be directed to draw up an agreement form detailing the matters
of development subject to final approval. Motion carried unanimously.
Dr. Horn gave an update on the planning for the Ford Middle School/
Park facility. Plans now call for the school to be completed the
last part of 1982 or early 1983.
The City Manager presented the four areas of City Planning; the
Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance and
the Capital Improvements Plan,
The Superintendent discussed the Community Education Plans. Classes
are beginning this month with 37 courses being offered in a variety
of subjects. The Council and School Board agreed to adopt a joint
resolution expressing appreciation to the Allen Community Education
and Advisory Board.
Motion Daugherty Second Farmer to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
