Chumbley Absent: Rex Womack, Mayor Pro Tem City Staff: Jon McCarty, City Manager Marty Hendrix, City Secretary The Called - Special Session of the Allen City Council was called to order by Mayor Pierson at 7:31 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 1961, at Rountree Elementary School, 800 E. Main Street. Canvass of Election Returns from City (Agenda Item I) Council Election - April 4, 1981 City Secretary Marty Hendrix advised the Council they had before them a copy of the Election Returns for the City Council Election held on Saturday, April 4, 1981, showing a cumulative total of the votes cast, along with a Register of Official Ballots for the absentee polling place and the regular polling place at City Hall. There were 24 votes cast in the absentee polling place and 786 votes cast in the regular polling place, for a total of 810 votes cast. As shown on the Election Return, the candidates received the following number of votes: Councilman, Place No. 1 NAME OF CANDIDATE VOTES RECEIVED Joe Farmer Paula S. Ward Paxton 455 Resolution No. 338: Order Declaring Result of City Council Election held on April 4, 1981 Page 2 (Agenda Item II) Upon a motion made by Councilman Andrew and seconded by Council- man McClure, the Council voted 6 - 0 in favor of adoption of Resol- ution No. 338 declaring Joe Farmer, Councilman for Place No. 1, H. R. Daugherty, Councilman for Place No. 3, and G. Ward Paxton, Councilman for Place No. 5. Oaths -of -Office to Newly Elected Council Members (Agenda Item III) City Secretary Marty Hendrix administered the Oath -of -Office to the re-elected Councilmen Joe Farmer and H. R. Daugherty, and the newly elected Councilman G. Ward Paxton. Mayor Pierson presented Certificates of Election to each of the elected Councilmen. Councilman G. Ward Paxton took his chair on the Council. Election of Mayor Pro Tem (Agenda Item IV) Mayor Pierson opened the nominations for Mayor Pro Tem of the Allen City Council. Councilman Andrew nominated Councilman Joe Farmer. With no further nominations,Councilman Chumbley made a motion to close the nominations. The motion was seconded by Councilman McClure and the Council voted 6 - 0 in favor of the motion, with Councilman Farmer abstaining. Upon a motion made by Councilman Andrew and seconded by Council- man Chumbley, the Council voted 6 - 0 to elect Councilman Joe Farmer by acclamation as Mayor Pro Tem, with Councilman Farmer abstaining. 35 Allen City Council Called - Special Meeting April 6, 1981 Page 3 With no further discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Daugherty and seconded by Councilman Andrew to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 p.m. The Council voted 7 - 0 in favor of the motion.
