Chumbley Absent: Joe Farmer, Mayor Pro Tem Jim McClure City Staff: Jon McCarty, City Manager The special - called session of the Allen City Council was called to order by Mayor Pierson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 1981 at the Allen City Hall, 302 W. McDermott. Discussion and Consideration of Action Relating to the Proposed Collin County Farmers Market The City Council called the special meeting to discuss options available to them in response to the Collin County Commissioners action taken at their April 20, 1981 meeting in which the Commissioners approved construction of the Farmers Market at the proposed location in the City of Allen's extraterritorial jurisdiction meeting only one of the requirements of Resolution No. 339, being the septic tank system. The Council discussed the options of taking legal action immediately based on the advise of the City Attorney that the Farmers Market would be a subdivision. In further discussion, the Council concluded that the Farmers Market could be of benefit to residents of Allen and directed that the City Manager, Jon McCarty, communicate to the Collin County Commissioners that if the County would agree to approval of an annual agreement for the operation of the market, to be approved by the City Council, then the City Council would not otherwise restrict the use or operation of the Farmers Market. lid Allen City Council April 28, 1981 Page 2 j Discussion and Consideration of Action Relating to the Proposed Collin County Farmers Market (continued) Upon a motion made by Councilman Paxton and seconded by Councilman Andrew, the Council voted 5 - 0 to direct the City Manager to write a letter to the Collin County Commissioners advising them of the City of Allen's legal options and requesting an annual agreement for operation of the Farmers Market be entered into with the City of Allen.
