A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE REMOVAL OF EAST MAIN STREET (FM
2170) FROM THE TEXAS HIGHWAY SYSTEM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen is increasing in population and urbanization; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen desires to have local control for the operation and maintenance of East Main
Street (FM 2170) from the eastern City Limit Line at FM 2551 to the western right-of-way line of Greenville
Avenue (formerly SH 5); and,
WHEREAS, the Collin County Bond Election was passed on November 4, 2003, providing Collin County
funding for the East Main Street widening project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council respectfully requests that the Texas Department of Transportation remove
East Main Street (FM 2170) from the State Highway System, from the City of Allen's eastern City Limit Line
at FM 2551 to the western right-of-way line of Greenville Avenue (fomterly SH 5) as soon as feasible.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 11" DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2003.

Attached is a copy of the Texas Transportation Commission Minute Order that
releases this rpadway from our system.

In COLLIN COUNTY in the city of Allen (city), city officials have requested the removal of
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 2170 from the state highway system The city would like to
incorporate the roadway into its street system and bas requested control, jurisdiction, and maintenance
of FM 2170 from Greenville Avenue (formerly SH 5) to FM 2551 (locally lmown as Angel Parkway),
a distance of approximately 2.5 miles.
Pursuant to Texas Transportation Code, §§201.103 and 221.001, the executive director has
recommended that FM 2170 be removed from the state highway system and returned to the city.
IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED by the Texas Transportation Commission that
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 2170 is removed from the state highway system from
Greenville Avenue to FM 2551, a distance of approximately 2.5 miles, and returned to the city for
control, jmisdtction, and maintenance.
